Earlier, I linked to a statement by US Senator Norm Coleman that announced the US State Department had decided that the US would not participate in the 2009 Durban II conference, which I hailed as very good news. Today, at the US Helsinki Commission hearings, Gregg Rickman said no decision had been made on US participation. I don’t like the sound of that. I’ll see what else I can find out.
UPDATE: Norm Coleman’s Senate webpage now has an update on this story, acknowledging that the State Department has said that it will make a final decision in the near future. If you are an American, you could usefully let the State Department know how you feel about this.
